Welcome to the FAQ page, I hope the information here answers most, if not all, questions you may have prior to booking with me! If you read this page in its entirety and have further questions or would like to make an appointment, please fill out the contact form on the 'Booking' page.
Q: Are your books open?
A: Short Answer? No.
Right now I don't feel ready to accept any new appointment applications until I am able to get through a bit of my existing waitlist, who I am just now getting to contact after multiple rounds of rescheduling with each new historical event we are hit with. While I'd like to say it will be sometime this year, I really can't be any more specific than that right now. This means that I am not accepting new requests for appointments or consultations at this time. Keep an eye on my Instagram page for announcements when my books are going to re-open! Thanks for understanding!
Q: Where are you located?
A: I am located in the Salons by JC at the Huebner Commons Shopping Center in Suite #11.
11703 Huebner Rd #202
San Antonio, Texas
Q: How do I contact you?
A: Please fill out the contact form found on the Booking page or email us directly:
Q: Who is 'us'?
A: Myself, and my assistant, Andee. Andee (she/they) assists me with answering and sorting emails, scheduling, and occasionally posts announcements on my social media pages.
Q: Can I DM you instead of email?
A: I do not use DM for business inquiries on any of my social media. If you have a question about availability or pricing, please email.
Q: Do I have to come in for a consultation prior to booking?
A: Yes, I require an in-person consultation to thoroughly discuss your ideas before scheduling to ensure that I am the right artist for the project. If you are not local to San Antonio, please mention this in the comments when you fill out the contact form and I will do my best to accommodate wherever possible.
Q: Do you have a minimum?
A: Yes, my minimum is $200.
Q: What is your hourly rate?
A: I do not charge hourly. Pricing is based on the project as a whole and is dependent on size, location, complexity and color. Pricing is never based on the color, condition (health permitting), or age of your skin. If you have a body, it's a good one for tattoos. The right color ink will compliment any shade of skin. I will help you find the best ones for you via a free color swatch, by request.
Q: How much for *insert picture/description here*?
A: I only provide pricing in person, during the consultation. There are a lot of factors that affect the price of a tattoo and and I need to discuss the concept with you in person to get a good feel for what you are looking to get done before I am able to provide you with an accurate quote.
If you are not local to San Antonio, please email me and I will accommodate to the best of my ability.
Q: I want this exact tattoo/design I found, no changes. How much? A: I will not copy designs from other artists. I consider this plagiarism. I would be happy to keep your reference in mind while creating a custom design for you, but I will not copy it exactly.
Exception to the rule: If you are wanting to have another artist's work tattooed on you as-is, you MUST have explicit written permission form the artist and I must be able to verify it directly with them. Style compatibility is also essential.
*This policy excludes pop culture media that is already in widespread use such as historical fine art or references to movies, shows, or music. (Considered on a case-by-case basis.)
Q: How old do I have to be in order to be tattooed by you? What if I have a guardian's permission?
A: In the state of Texas you must be 18 years of age in order to receive a tattoo, regardless of parental permission. I will absolutely tattoo you on your 18th birthday, but not a day sooner. No exceptions.
Q: Would you tattoo something I drew myself?
A: Absolutely. I take these pieces on a case-by-case basis. If our styles align in a way that I feel I can do your art justice, I absolutely will.
Q: Do you do coverups? Can you rework an existing tattoo?
A: I am currently in the process of streamlining my portfolio and developing my style as an artist. As this tends to be fine line work and softer shading, it doesn't typically work very well for coverups and I prefer a blank canvas for original pieces. While I'll never say never, my availability for these projects will be limited. If you have a coverup/rework project that you would like me to look at, please include photos when you contact.
Q: What kind of ink do you use?
A: I use Eternal Ink exclusively as their formula is confirmed vegan. I am not sponsored by or associated with this brand.
Q: What forms of payment can you take?
A: I accept credit or debit card through secure transaction with Square.
Q: Do you take walk-ins?
A: No -my studio is by appointment only, including consultations.
Q: Can I see my design?
A: To protect my art and your custom piece, I do not release the design until your appointment. When you see your design, I can make most adjustments right then and there if needed. If it requires a complete redraw, you will be rescheduled at no additional cost. Thank you for your trust and respect for my process.
Q: What is your touch-up policy?
A: Touch ups are free for the life of your tattoo. It is important to me that you are satisfied with the work on your body, so I will happily work with you on minor corrections/maintenance. Touch-ups are at my discretion, and include correcting a portion of your tattoo that did not apply to your skin as intended.
Q: Are deposits required? Are they refundable or transferable?
A: Deposits (starting at $50) are required and are non-refundable. No exceptions.
Please respect your time and mine by only leaving a deposit if you are ready to commit to making an appointment.
Deposits ARE transferable to another project of equal or greater value. Subject to my discretion.
Q: What is your favorite subject to tattoo?
A: I always enjoy anything pertaining to flora and fauna. Plants, animals, nature, pets...I love it all. I also enjoy mythical/magical concepts, fine art references, and popular culture (i.e. Ghibli, cartoons, anime, etc).
Q: I sent an email/text a few days ago and haven't heard back... what gives?
A: Due to the high volume of inquiries received I do have an assistant, Andee, who's main tasks include helping me respond to texts and emails in a timely manner. We ask that you please allow up to one week for replies, as Andee and I both work full schedules while trying to maintain that work/life balance we all strive for.
If your inquiry is time sensitive, please indicate this in the subject line of your email, or text me.
Nothing brings me more joy than getting the chance to bring your ideas to life for you, I promise I will get back to you as soon as I am able to. If you feel your message has gotten lost, feel free to remind us. If it has indeed been missed, it is never on purpose. Thank you for your patience!
